Landman Season 3 will see some of the characters return to a very familiar setting of the Taylor Sheridan Universe.
While the Yellowstone co-creator consistently pushes television to new heights, he does love familiarity. Whether it be through re-casting actors that have played in other shows, or going back to filming locations that proved to work in previous shows, Sheridan never shies away from going back to the well, so to speak.
So when the third season of Landman rolls around, and a certain ranch of Sheridan’s is featured, it’ll be yet another example of Taylor double-dipping (in a good way). Seeing the similar backdrop should bring some joy to those who have stuck with Sheridan across his universe of different dramas, but more than anything… this latest update will make fans happy just to see that Landman Season 3 is actively in production.
Everyone that loves Landman has been patiently (or not-so-patiently) waiting for the oil drama to come back. To be clear, there was never a concern about it not getting a third season. It’s just that after the Sheridan series was renewed for Season 3, not a lot has been announced in terms of… well, the show actually filming.
For the show’s first two seasons, the Billy Bob Thornton-led show stuck to a very strict shooting and airing schedule. Actors, actresses and everyone in between would show up on set in the Spring, shoot 10 episodes, and then the series would be ready to go starting in the Fall. It appeared that things were originally on schedule for that to happen again for Season 3, but we’ve slowly but surely found out that Landman has been hit with some delays (of which, we don’t know the exact reasoning).
The cast and crew eventually started filming in late September, and Clayton Quisenberry, a background actor from Season 2 of Landman who goes by “Clayton Q” on socials, recently shared somewhat of a spoiler for Season 3. The oil drama will be shooting some of its scenes at the world famous Bosque Ranch.
If you aren’t familiar, it’s a 600-acre ranch located in Fort Worth, Texas that Sheridan owns… and where he keeps his personal horses. And a handful of scenes from Yellowstone and 1883 were filmed on the very ranch, so it’s not out of the norm for Sheridan to use the location.
It just hasn’t been used for Landman until now… and we know that thanks to Clayton Q:
“Filming this week at Bosque Ranch for Season 3 of ‘Landman’ on Paramount+.”
Back to the Bosque.
It’ll be interesting to see how the ranch works into the story of Landman’s third season, but fans will have to wait until the show returns to their television screens to find that out. When might that happen? Shooting from late September through the beginning of the next year will likely lead to a mid-to-late 2027 release of Landman Season 3.
With past seasons, they’ve shot for five or so months, and then usually take two to three months for post-production. If they wrapped in January at the earliest, Season 3 would probably premiere sometime around April or May. Not exactly an exciting update… but at least the timeline has become more clear for the return of the fan-favorite series.
